At WHITE KNIGHT PillowCARE, we don't - and would never - wash or dry clean down and down/feather mix bed pillows.
There are, at least, 8 reasons not to wash your down or down/feather mix bed pillows:
- It's highly unlikely that washing will return the exterior/outer pillow shells (aka tickings or casings) of your down and down/feather mix bed pillows to pristine whiteness or brightness.
- It's highly unlikely that washing can deep clean the interior down and down/feather mix fill in your down and down/feather mix bed pillows.
- It's impossible for a home or commercial washer to reach the minimum temperatures required tom kill live dust mites and bed bugs embedded in the interior down and down/feather mix fill in your down and down/feather mix bed pillows.
- It's impossible for a home or commercial washer to reach the minimum temperatures required to significantly denature (or deactivate) the Der f 1/Der p 1 protein allergens produced by the dust mite feces in your fill (these protein allergens are the primary cause of allergies).
- Washing requires a large commercial washer in any attempt to deep clean the interior down and down/feather mix fill in your down and down/feather mix bed pillows.
- It's highly likely that the surfactants in your laundry or dishwashing detergents will ruin the down in your down or down/feather mix bed pillows.
- It's highly likely that washing will dissolve the "down and feather proofing" of your exterior pillow shells.
- Drying requires a large commercial dryer in any attempt to completely dry the interior down and down/feather mix fill in your down and down/feather mix pillow in a reasonable number of hours.

- It's highly likely that the dry cleaning solvent or fluid will destroy the fill power or "loft" of the down in your down or down/feather mix bed pillows.
- It's not unusual for down and down/feather mix bed pillows to break apart or tear while tumbling in a dry cleaning machine during the wash cycle.

That means NO WASHING
We don't wash your pillows in cold, warm, hot or boiling water (with or without detergents, bleaches and other potentially damaging additives).
Even if the "care label" attached to the pillow says Hand Wash, Machine Wash, Machine Wash In Large Capacity Washer With No Central Agitator, Professionally Launder Only, Commercial Wash, Machine Wash In Commercial Washer, Machine Wash In Commercial Size Front Loading Washing Machine, or similar "care" instruction.
Even if the "washing process" is called "Washing", "Laundering", "Wet Cleaning" or "French Laundry."
That means NO DRY CLEANING
We don't dry clean your pillows in solvents such as perchloroethylene (aka perc), synthetic petroleum (aka DF2000 or EcoSolv), formaldehyde dibutyl acetal (aka SolvOn or K4), siloxane (aka Green Earth) or liquid CO2.
Even if the "care label" attached to the pillow says Dry Clean, Professional Dry Clean, Professionally Dry Clean Only, Dry Cleaning By Reputable Cleaner, Dry Clean Only With Experienced Cleaner, Dry Clean Recommended, Dry Cleaning Is A Recommended Alternative, Use a Dry Cleaner Experienced With Down Products, or similar "care" instruction.
Even if the "dry cleaning process" is called Environmentally Friendly, Organic or Non-Toxic.
That means NO SPOT CLEANING
Even if the "care label" attached to the pillow says Do Not Wash/Do Not Dry Clean/Spot Clean Only, or similar "care" instruction.
That means NO GUESSING
Even if the "care label" attached to the pillow has no instructions other than to Call 1-800-285-3696 (The Company Store) or Call 1-800-237-5337 (Scandia Down), or similar "care" instruction.
